Remote-controlled cars will soon race in the pavilions of MS University as part of a programme to promote the sport in Gujarat, taken up by a group of youngsters of the city.

VADODARA: Remote-controlled cars will soon race in the pavilions of MS University (MSU) as part of a programme to promote the sport in Gujarat, taken up by a group of youngsters of the city.
These youngsters will be holding a three-day racing event in May at MSU's Union Pavilion ground which they say will be the biggest racing event of its kind in the country.

They also plan to start a racing club of RC car racing enthusiasts.
"Like any other popular sport, RC car racing is a rage in several countries. Being an expensive hobby, where participants need to purchase the cars that usually range between Rs 20,000 and Rs 90,000, such racing events are not held regularly in India, except in metros," says Trupal Pandya, who along with three other MSU students and RC enthusiasts - Palak Patel, Pratik Joshi and Pradipsinh Ahluwalia have formed a firm Rampage, to organise such races on regular basis.
"In the race organised by us, participants will be trained for 10 days in advance for practice on tracks which will be opened prior to the racing days. For the racing, they will be provided the cars that we have imported from Taiwan," says Pandya, adding that the event is expected to witness participation of 150 individual participants and 50 team registrations comprising of four participants in each team, making it the biggest RC racing event in the country.
While professionals will also show their performance on RC cars, the event will simultaneously display air shows where audience will be able to watch performance of remote controlled planes and helicopters.
