Ambati Rayudu, who had shifted to Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) last season, was a happy man on Wednesday. For, his decision to shift to BCA from Hyderabad was justified.
Rayudu, a fluent stroke-maker, was given an award for making the most runs for Baroda in the Ranji Trophy last season.
Rayudu scored 566 runs from 14 innings with an average of 56.60 that included a double hundred and three half centuries.
He got Rs 10,000 towards a cash prize from BCA.
Rayudu has strengthened the team's middle-order by scoring at a brisk pace and also holding the wicket at one end.
Rakesh Solanki, a promising middle-order batsman, has been out of form for quite some time and he is yet to put up a good performance this season.
Young spinner Bhargav Bhatt bagged the award for bagging most wickets as he plucked 47 wickets from nine matches at an average of 21.57. Bhatt, who got Rs 10,000 cash prize, was also highest wicket-taker in the country in 2010-'11 Ranji Trophy.
Hard-hitter
Yusuf Pathan bagged the award of cricketer of the year for scoring 375 runs from eight innings that included one century and a half century. He walked away with Rs 50,000 cash prize.
Aditya Waghmode won the award for best U-22 cricketer for last season as he scored 392 runs from seven innings. Sahil Gupta won the award of best U-19 player while
Deepak Hooda was judged best U-16 player. Binaisha Surti was awarded the best woman senior cricketer award while Palak Patel won the award in woman junior cricketer category.
