THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cantonment police on Saturday registered a case against an unidentified person for forging a certificate of Kerala University using fake seal and signature.
A fake certificate has been created for unknown reasons using a fake seal and signature of the head of the Russian department. The certificate was created in the name of a former female student of the university and the incident came to light after the student found the certificate on a site linked to the university.
The student soon filed a complaint with the registrar of Kerala University that a fake certificate in her name was being circulated on various sites.

“A departmental enquiry was conducted and the certificate was found to be bogus. However, we could not identify the person who created it and the purpose. We have filed a complaint with the police,” said K S Anilkumar, registrar of Kerala University.
Cantonment police have registered a case over the incident. “We have started the investigation. More details will be known only when the investigation progresses,” police said.
Recently, Thampanoor police registered a case against a 33-year-old woman from Palarivattom, Ernakulam, for allegedly forging a diploma certificate of Ayurveda therapist course under Ayurveda Medical Education for securing a job in a Gulf country.
The accused Manjusha is working as a therapist at a firm in a Gulf country. The forgery came to light after the firm sent the certificate to the director of Ayurveda Medical Education for verifying its authenticity. The registration number in the certificate was original, but it belongs to a student, named Krishna Dev from Nedumangad, who originally studied there during the academic year 2009-10.
