Thiruvananthapuram: The supply of drinking water will be disrupted in several parts of the city due to a major leak in a pipeline and some maintenance works, informed the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) in a press note issued on Tuesday.
The leak occurred at Ambalamukku, in a main pipeline that supplies water from Peroorkada. Due to this, the supply of water will be disrupted at Peroorkada, Oolampara, Kudappanakunnu, Ambalamukku, Muttada, Paruthipara, Kesavadasapuram, Nalanchira, Ulloor, Jawahar Nagar, Vellayambalam, Kawdiar, Kuravankonam, Nanthancode, Pattom, Plamoodu, Murinjapalam, Gowreesapattom, Medical College and Kumarapuram from 10pm on Thursday till 8pm on Friday.
Due to electrical maintenance works at the 75 MLD plant at Aruvikkara, supply will be disrupted at Pattoor, Palayam, Kowdiar, Thirumala, and Karamana areas. Supply will be resumed by Wednesday noon.
Disruption in water supply due to leaks is a common affair across city areas. Supply pipes have leaked over 29,000 times in the last three years and KWA has been considering several proposals to replace all old pipes. MSID:: 112659670 413 |
