THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The revamped museum garden will be open to all with it's luxuriant new green spread, tiled foot-paths and automated ticket vending kiosks will be opened to public on Wednesday. Food and civil supplies minister Anoop Jacob and minister for museum and zoo P.K.Jayalekshmi will be present.
The garden renovation works at Thiruvananthapuram museum compound which began in September 2012 has been completed by Kerala land development corporation.
Lawns have been made using imported mexican grass on slopes and buffalo grass on plain areas. The work on pathway along the garden has been completed. A rock garden with provisions for fountains have also been set up. The entire acreage was filled with new soil and levelled as part of the renovation. The renovation works were carried out at a cost of Rs 2.1 crores.
Two kiosks installed with four machines each have been placed on either side of the museum gate opposite to the corporation office. Tickets to the art-gallery, zoo and natural history museum can be taken from these kiosks.Currencies of all denominations can be inserted into the machines. Visitors can also get balance amount from the machine without delay. The machine, installed by C-DIT, have been programmed in such a way that tickets to other future projects coming up in the zoo can also be issued.
