Five police officers injured in gang attack

A gang of three members attacked five police officers from the Kundara Police Station on Wednesday night, injuring them. The officers had been sent to the scene following a message from a police control room vehicle about a gang creating problems near Kuzhiyam NSS Karayogam. The gang was assaulting people and vandalising shops in the locality when the police tried to take them into custody. The gang then began assaulting the officers, using iron rods and wood. More police officers arrived and arrested the three suspects. The injured officers were taken to the Kundara Taluk Hospital and Civil Police Officers Vishnu Shinto Akshay and Arun were injured in the attack. The three suspects have been identified as Abhilash, 30, son of Saraswathi of Mangalazhikathu Veedu at Kuzhiyam, Saneesh, 31, son of Satheesan Pillai of Charuvila Puthenveedu at Kuzhiyam, and Chandu Nair, 22, son of Pradeep Kumar of Lakshmi Bhavan at Chandanathoppe. They have been remanded after producing before a court.

Thiruvananthapuram: Five police officers of Kundara police station were injured after they were attacked by a three-member gang during a law and order situation at Kuzhiyam on Wednesday night.
A team of policemen from the station had reached the spot on Wednesday night following a message from a police control room vehicle about a gang creating problems near Kuzhiyam NSS Karayogam.

When the police tried to take them into custody, the gang started assaulting police officers as well. Using iron rods and wood, the gang assaulted the officers. Later more policemen reached the spot and arrested them. The injured policemen were taken to Kundara taluk hospital.
Kundara SI Bhakthavalsalan and civil police officers Vishnu, Shinto, Akshay and Arun were injured in the attack.
The arrested have been identified as Abhilash (30) son of Saraswathi of Mangalazhikathu Veedu at Kuzhiyam, Saneesh (31) son of Satheesan Pillai of Charuvila Puthenveedu at Kuzhiyam and Chandu Nair (22) son of Pradeep Kumar of Lakshmi Bhavan at Chandanathoppe.
