THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the cushy, chilly ambience of a 3-D theatre, they sat gazing at the light blue-glow on the wide-screen. For a moment, the tiny fishes that swirled around on the screen seemed to come towards them and they swayed and then smiled realising what they just did. On Tuesday Minister for zoo P.K.Jayalekshmi, Tourism minister A.P.Anilkumar shared the joy of 3-D experience with K.P.
Muraleedharan MLA who inaugurated the theatre that has been set up at the zoo for the visitors.
The theatre has been constructed at the children's centre. An exclusive centre for environmental education has also been arranged at the centre.
The joy didn't end there. The ministers and the MLA then stepped out to take a ride in the newly introduced battery cars. Anilkumar just couldn't contain himself as he seated himself on the driving seat. He had the company of zoo director Udayavarman and zoo staff and they drove along the tarred zoo path.
At present an eight-seater buggy will be on service from Wednesday at a charge of Rs 50 per head. Three more inlcuding one eight-seater and two 14 seater buggies will be added to the crew by the end of this month. Tickets will be sold at half the price for physically challenged visitors,kids and senior citizens.
Minister for Tourism A.P. Anil Kumar had conducted a test-drive of the buggy in September last year.
