THANE: A case was filed after a group of individuals blocked a towing vehicle that was carrying out traffic police duties in Thane city.
This followed the towing van's enforcement action against vehicles haphazardly parked near Upvan Lake, as stated in an official announcement.
The occurrence transpired on August 19 during the process of addressing improperly parked vehicles at the well-known location visited by people during weekends.
According to a Traffic Police statement, the towing van's movement was hindered by a group of individuals, leading to intense verbal disputes with the staff members.
"Despite the presentation of the necessary permit and license by the towing van personnel, the individuals prevented its progression and issued threats," the statement mentioned.
Furthermore, the release revealed that they filmed the incident and disseminated the videos on social media to tarnish the reputation of the traffic police.
A traffic police official supervising the towing operation lodged a complaint, following which offences were registered under sections 341 (wrongful restraint) 186 (voluntarily obstructing any public servant in the discharge of his public duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
No arrests have been made so far.
