THANE: Cabinet Minister Sarnaik mentioned that efforts are being made to salvage the bus stops and citizen waiting shelters constructed along the highways, which could potentially be displaced due to widening and metro works being undertaken in Thane.TOI reported how several bus stops and shelters constructed on the service road-highway medians, especially along Ghodbunder Highway, could be removed as the widening works progressed, necessitating the demolition of the medians. These aesthetic structures were constructed using taxpayers' money and installed recently, and their removal would attract public ire."I am in talks with the MMRDA and TMC to ensure these facilities built using taxpayers' money are not wasted and are shifted to the roadside for use," he said while interacting with the media in Thane this week.
