Meghalaya records over 44 dengue cases, 1 death

SHILLONG: Meghalaya has recorded over 44 dengue cases and one related death over the past few days, health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said on Firday. “The dengue cases are predominantly present in the plain belts of the Garo Hills,” she added.
Lyngdoh said the 44 cases were detected after 139 patients with fever underwent dengue tests from October 3 till October 12.

“On Thursday, seven persons were made to undergo dengue tests, of which only two tested positive. We also lost one soul due to brain hemorrhage caused by dengue,” Lyngdoh said, adding that the deceased was a male patient and was suffering from very high fever.
Stating that the health department is taking all possible measures to contain dengue, she said, “We are following all protocols, engaging with municipal board and block development officers to ensure necessary combat is immediately rolled out. We are procuring some more testing kits as districts are indicating requirements of additional kits.”

Bihar registers 119 new dengue cases
The state of Bihar has reported 119 new dengue cases, bringing the total number of cases this year to 8,864. Over 24% of these cases have been recorded in just eight days of October. Patna has the highest number of cases, followed by Bhagalpur, Saran, Nawada, and Vaishali. Currently, there are 277 dengue patients receiving treatment at various government hospitals in the state. The district magistrate of Patna has assured that there is an adequate supply of platelets and beds for dengue patients.
