SHILLONG: With Covid-19 cases on the rise across Meghalaya, the principal secretary of health and family welfare department, Sampath Kumar, informed that the government has amended the protocols for entry points into the state.
As per the revised protocols, persons entering Meghalaya from any state or Union territory, possessing a valid certificate of vaccination shall be exempted from testing at the entry point.

“However, this shall not be applicable to persons coming from Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. Any person coming from these five states shall be required to produce a negative RT-PCR/TruNat/CBNAAT report tested at a recognized laboratory within 72 hours of their arrival at the entry point,” the revised protocol specified.
Meghalaya on Sunday recorded one more death related to Covid-19 in the East Khasi Hills district, taking the fatality count to 153 even as 73 new positive cases took the number of active cases in the state up to 680.
