Foundation stones laid for tourism development projects in Salem district
SALEM: Tourism minister R Rajendran on Wednesday laid foundation stones for tourism development projects in Salem district worth Rs.29.71 crore. These projects are in Yercaud, the Cauvery riverbank area in Poolampatti and the Fruit Farm Lake area in Karumandurai.In Yercaud’s Manjakuttai, foundation stones were laid for two projects to improve landscaping and viewpoint infrastructure at a total cost of Rs 13.43 crore. A parking lot will be developed at Shervarayan Park in Yercaud at Rs 9.09 crore. Infrastructure facilities will be improved at Shervarayan Park at Rs 3.56 crore.In the Poolampatti Cauvery riverbank area, basic facilities will be improved at a cost of Rs 2.11 crore. In the Karumandurai Fruit Farm Lake area, basic facilities will be improved at a cost of Rs 1.52 crore.“These projects are expected to create a safe and quality tourism environment and generate employment for local people, leading to the economic development of the country,” the minister said.
