Maharashtra Man Arrested in Bokaro for Broad Daylight Chain Snatching
Bokaro: A Maharashtra resident was arrested for snatching a chain from a woman in broad daylight in the city on May 12, the police said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Bharat Gurudas Vaswani, is a resident of Sindhunagar in Amravati district, Maharashtra.
Vaswani was arrested for snatching a chain from a woman at City Centre under Sector-4 police station limits on May 12. Sanjay Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Sector-4 police station, said he was tracked down and arrested based on technical inputs and local intelligence.
“During the interrogation, the accused confessed that chain snatching was his primary occupation. He travels from city to city on bike to target public in crowded places. He was attempting to flee when he got caught,” Kumar said.
Vaswani has around 15 cases against him across multiple states in Maharashtra and West Bengal. Based on his disclosure, police recovered the stolen gold chain linked to the City Centre incident.
