RANCHI: Jharkhand chapter of Jamiat-ulama-i-hind joined the national protest against terrorism on Wednesday and expressed solidarity with the victims of terrorism in Paris. Considered one of the largest organization of Islamic scholars in the country, the group has considerable presence in Jharkhand as well. General Secretary, jamiat-ulama-i-Jharkhand Maulana Abu Bakr said that they had extended open call to all Islamic organisations to stand up in protest against acts of terror anywhere in the world.
“Islam talks about peace and no religious text justifies act of terror against innocent people,” Maulana Abu Bakr said. Hundreds of Muslims, many in their traditional attire came to the streets of capital and demonstrated against terrorism calling for peace. Bakr rubbished claims of fringe elements that terrorism is Jihad. “The terrorists might be misusing religion to conceal their inhuman and non-Islamic acts of barbarism but we are there to condemn it and reject their claims,” he said.
Asked if they were protested by other groups of Islamic organisation, Bakr said that entire Indian Muslim community is united against terrorism and by lodging the nation wide protest they have started to clarify the doubts. “On direction of Jamiat-ulama-i-hind we are ready to take up further programmes but as of now we got overwhelming response from a cross section of the society,” he said.
Bakr asserted that education and awareness is must and for that Ulemas must take a lead role. “It is upto the religious leaders to give direction to the community and preach the real meaning of Islam, this is peace,” he said.
