Bokaro: Giridih police arrested eight cybercriminals and recovered blank SIM cards from them on Tuesday. Giridih SP Deepak Sharma said the accused persons were planning to target hundreds of people using the blank SIM cards which were acquired from another state.
The criminals have been identified as Deepak Kumar, Prem Kumar Mandal, Dinesh Kumar Mandal, Mantu Kumar Sao, Rupesh Kumar Verma, Rahul Kumar Mandal, Satish Kumar and Pawan Mandal.
“Seized items included 20 mobiles and laptops along with 25 SIM cards, four ATM cards, PAN and Aadhaar cards,” the SP said.
The breakthrough came from the Pratibimba portal, which flagged the presence of cybercriminal activities across various police station areas in Giridih. Following this, a team led by DSP Sandeep Suman was formed, resulting in the arrest of the eight criminals. Their activities ranged from posing as bank officers to providing fake maternity benefits. They bought the SIM cards from a man in West Bengal. Mantu Kumar has been identified as a SIM card provider. TNN
