Rajkot: In a suicide attempt allegedly triggered by financial troubles, a couple and their son engaged in incense sticks business consumed poisonous pesticide tablets, commonly used for storing wheat, at their house in Rajkot, on Tuesday nightThe police said Nilesh Savdas (55), his wife Chandrika (50), and their son Margin (22), are under treatment at Rajkot Civil Hospital.During preliminary investigation, Thorala police found Nilesh had purchased a flat worth around Rs 14 lakh on loan about six years ago. After paying Rs four lakh in cash, he had taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh, which was registered in his daughter's name. The monthly instalment was about Rs 7,500.However, due to a slowdown in business in recent months, the family failed to pay the instalments on time, resulting in six cheques being returned by the bank. Police suspect that mounting financial pressure drove the family to take the extreme step.It was further learnt that Nilesh is the middle child among two brothers and a sister. The police said detailed statements will be recorded after the victims recover.
