Rajkot: In view of the thumping response to the de-addiction rally organized by the Thakore community, the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) conveners will meet on Saturday to chalk out plans for their 21-day Ekta Yatra in 11 districts of Saurashtra.
Earlier, the yatra was scheduled to kick off on January 26 but was postponed following a Gujarat high court directive to the organization's leaders to apply for permissions afresh before the various district administrations.
"We will meet on Saturday in Rajkot and decide the routes and date of yatra,'' said Lalit Vasoya, PAAS' Saurashtra convener.
PAAS has decided to start the yatra from Sidsar town in Jamnagar district, the pilgrimage place for Kadva Patels. After traversing 21 days, the yatra is scheduled to end at Kagvad, the pilgrimage place of Leuva Patels in Rajkot district.
Vasoya had applied for permission in 11 districts but he did not receive any response from the authorities. Jamnagar district administration had clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 ahead of the event, forcing Vasoya to move the high court.
The response to this yatra, which primarily aims at galvanizing support from both Leuva and Kadva Patels for their reservation demand, will be important for the future strategy. It has become all the more crucial as Alpesh Thakore-led de-addiction rally in Ahmedabad on January 26 received huge support from OBCs.
