Rajkot: A simmering dispute over a petty issue that began on Jan 18 turned fatal in Rapar town of Kutch, when a 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a known person who was angered after the victim objected to him frequently passing by his house.
The victim, Pravin Bharwad, 22, was stabbed by Nimesh Gadhvi on Sunday evening and succumbed during treatment on Monday. A formal complaint was registered at Rapar police station on Monday night under BNS Section 103(1).
His brother Shailesh told police in the complaint that tensions between the two had erupted on Jan 18 following an argument near a petrol pump close to the Bharwad family's residence. The dispute arose after Pravin objected to Gadhvi frequently passing by their home.
On Jan 25, Pravin left home in the morning and did not return for several hours. While searching for him in the evening, Shailesh saw Gadhvi assaulting Pravin near a municipal garbage dump. The accused stabbed Pravin in the abdomen before fleeing the spot on a motorcycle.
Pravin was brought home after the attack but initially refused to seek medical treatment, claiming the injury was not serious. However, his condition worsened the next morning and he was found bleeding heavily. Family members rushed him to the Rapar government hospital, from where he was referred for further treatment.
He was later admitted to a private hospital in Samakhiyali, where he died at around 3.30pm on Jan 26.
