Five assault father, son in Junagadh

Rajkot: Junagadh taluka police arrested five men within hours for allegedly kidnapping, robbing and assaulting a father and his son in Toraniya village of Junagadh taluka, with the attack reportedly triggered by a suspected love affair.Police said the main accused, Milan Makwana of Rajpara village in Visavadar taluka, suspected that the complainant's son, Sanjay Dhandhukiya, was in contact with his fiancee. Nursing this grudge, he allegedly planned the attack with his associates.On the night of March 5, the accused allegedly arrived in Toraniya village in a car, abducted the father and son and assaulted them inside the moving vehicle, snatching Sanjay's mobile phone and throwing it near Virpur village while also taking away the father's phone.Police said the victims were taken to a farm near Rajpara village where they were held for about an hour and beaten, after which the accused drove them towards Toraniya, dragged Sanjay out near a hotel and assaulted him again before finally dropping the father and son back in the village.An FIR was registered the same night and, using CCTV footage and local intelligence, police traced and arrested the suspects within hours. The car used in the crime was also seized.The arrested accused, all residents of Rajpara village, were identified as Milan Makwana, Sanjayi Makwana, Nikunj Vasiya, Jamal Sandhar and Jaydeep Makwana. They were booked under Sections 140(4), 309(4), 115(2), 296(b), 351(3) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
