Chaparda, next stop for Team India selectors!

Chaparda (Junagadh): The next time you pass by Chaparda, a village near Junagadh, you could well spot a group of budding cricketers getting tips from Jimmy Adams, the former West Indies cricketer, at a sprawling 60-yard cricket ground. Many would be even seen getting crucial bowling tips from Aashish Kapoor and Salil Ankola, who played for India in the nineties.
This dusty hamlet about 25 km from the main town, is now a home to Gujarat's first private residential cricket school set up by Gopal Jashapara, a non-resident Gujarati (NRG) from Rajkot.

Jashapara, a cricketer himself, has also roped in the likes of T A Sekar, former Indian pacer and the chief coach at MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai.
Jashapara, who had migrated to Dubai 20 years ago, was also manager of UAE's under-19 teams for two years in 2013-14. He passed various levels of examinations for cricket coaches and is now a level-3 coach, who can represent any national team.
"The aim behind setting up this special school was to provide an all-equipped training platform to budding cricketers of Saurashtra," said Jashapara, who is settled in Dubai now.

Jashapara has tied up with a local residential school Brahmananda Vidhyalay that has 1,500 students studying right from primary school to colleges, at its educational campus.
This will be the second residential school for cricket in the state after the Porbandar's Duleep School of Cricket, which was founded in 1947 by the then ruler of erstwhile Porbandar state. It was re-started in 1992 by the state government.
"This residential school will not only train students in batting and bowling. There will be two permanent coaches based in Chaparda and other former Indian players who will hold training sessions and camps in other aspects of cricket such as umpiring, scoring, pitch-making and others. We have prepared a special syllabus for the same," said Jashapara, who is also the member of Dubai Cricket Council.
All these former cricketers will regularly hold training camps at Chaparda.
"We will enroll students from class VI onwards. We have prepared a detailed plan to hold various league matches round the year between various teams from Saurashtra at this ground,'' said Madhav Jashapara, in-charge of the cricket school.
