Amreli coldest in Gujarat, nights get warmer in state
Ahmedabad: For the second time this winter, Amreli was the coldest place in Gujarat at 9.6°C and the only weather station in the state to record mercury less than 10°C on the night of Sunday.The nights were slightly warmer compared to previous days across towns and cities with Bhuj recording the sharpest departure of 4.8 degrees as temperature settled at 15.6 degrees, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data showed. Interestingly, Naliya in Kutch, which usually remains the coldest place in the state, reported a relatively higher minimum of 11.2°C, 1.7 degrees above normal.Other parts of the state also saw warmer nights with a deviation of . Ahmedabad recorded a minimum of 14.1°C (2.2 degrees above normal), Gandhinagar 13.5°C (+2.3), Deesa 12.3°C (+2.8), Bhavnagar 16.6°C (+2.9) and Surat 15.2°C (+0.5)."Minimum temperatures were above normal to appreciably above normal in parts over North Gujarat region and Kutch and above normal in parts over Saurashtra and South Gujarat region," IMD stated.
