RAIPUR: After its unique schemes linking cow politics with economic activities, the Congress government led by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel in Chhattisgarh has come up with a health care service aiming to deploy mobile medical units in every district to start treatment for cattle.
Titled 'Mukhyamantri Govansh Mobile Chikitsa Yojana', this service will provide better health care facilities to cattle.
The scheme will be started with one or two mobile veterinary units in each district and will be expanded further in a phased manner.
At present, health care services for livestock are being provided at government veterinary hospitals as well as state-run Gauthans established under the 'Suraji Gaon Yojana'.
For better animal health, pastures were also developed in Gauthans, so that nutritious fodder could be arranged for the animals. The launch of this new scheme will further expand healthcare facilities for livestock in the state.
Mobile clinics for livestock are along the lines of two schemes -- 'Mukhyamantri Slum Swasthya Yojana' and 'Mukhyamantri Haat-Bazaar Clinic Yojana – which are being implemented to basic health care services to the people living in remote rural areas and in urban slum settlements.
Ever since Congress came to power in December 2018, the cow remains in steady focus for the Bhupesh Baghel government.
First, the Congress government decided to set up gothans or cow shelters across the state and later it launched ‘Gaudhan Nyay Yojana’ to buy cow dung from cattle rearers at Rs two a kilo. Later, the Baghel government introduced another scheme to buy cow urine for Rs four a litre – so that cattle rearers could generate income and take better care of their livestock.
