RAIPUR: Booster dose of CoVID vaccine is being administered to all above 18 years of age from today under Amrit Mahotsav campaign. More than 1.7 crore people are eligible to get booster dose across the state.
The National Health Mission director and State Nodal Officer for Corona Vaccination, Bhoskar Vilas Sandipan said that sufficient stock of vaccines are available in the state.
This special vaccination campaign will run for 75 days from July 15 to September 30. Preparations are being made to administer vaccination or booster dose to about one crore 70 lakh people across the state.
Preparation has been completed to provide free vaccination-booster doses to all eligible people above 18 years of age in the state to prevent corona infection. Like the first and second doses, precaution/booster doses will also be given free of cost to people between 18 years and 59 years at all government COVID vaccination centers in the state, he added. The objective of the move is to speed up the vaccination drive for the 75th celebration of India’s Independence.
On Thursday, the anti-coronavirus vaccine was being administered at 2,468 centers across the state. While, on Friday, preparations are being made for vaccination at about 500 centers. Registration for booster doses can be done through the Covin app. Raipur Chief Medical and Health Officer-CMHO office has asked everyone to reach the nearest primary health centers, community health centers, district hospitals, medical colleges, or identified vaccination centers. It has been said that after reaching there, a booster dose can be applied.
Presently, the elderly, health workers, and frontline workers above 60 years of age were being provided the precaution or the booster dose free of cost. Meanwhile, doses of vaccines for the population of 18-59 years were available only at the private health centers which had a fixed amount of fee for the same. In such a situation, only 8,52,381 people have been given precautionary or booster doses.
Meanwhile, the cases of corona in Chhattisgarh have been increasing alarmingly. The state currently has 2232 active patients across the state while 410 were found positive on Thursday. The worst hits include Raipur and Durg-Bhilai. The positive percentage has increased to 3.14 percent. Anticipating a further rise in the number of covid patients.
