If a situation is given on the spot, how would young minds work out a play within the limited resources at their disposal?
Jaagar, Madhav Vaze's theatre group, will hold an inter-collegiate extempore drama competition' wherein teams from participating colleges will be given a topic to base a 20-minute play on.
The competition will be held on January 10 and 11.
1x1 polls
The teams will be given only two hours to prepare for their play, and will be allowed to use select props, limited accessories and drapery. The performances will be followed by a discussion by the participating teams.
The competition is aimed at maintaining creativity on stage which can lead to balanced critiquing thereafter. The idea is to help students utilise, to the optimum capacity, their understanding of social, political and cultural aspects around them, for better interpretation and presentation of the drama topic given to them.
The competition, which is in its second year, has been supported and encouraged by two theatre aficionados, Pushpalata Ranade and her late husband Rajabhau Ranade.
The creative talent of the participants will be judged at the Aksharnandan school auditorium, off Senapati Bapat road on January 10 at 2 pm and on January 11, from 11 am onwards.
The performances will be acknowledged with individual and team prizes. For details, contact Madhav Vaze on 020-25454848 or Amit Vaze on 9890390823.
