Between February and March, over 4,000 people used DigiYatra at the Pune airport when it was launched on an experimental basis
PUNE: Milind Gokhale, who was travelling from Pune to Delhi on April 2 i.e. two days after DigiYatra was launched at the city airport, was unable to use the new system.
The flyer, however, had used the system last week, but could not experience the seamless entry as promised. "Despite using the system, the CISF jawan posted at the security check-in entrance asked for my boarding pass and identity proof.

I was made to stare at a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera before lining up. I didn't see any seamless entry and the whole process was similar to other passengers who were not using the system," Gokhale told TOI.

Four days later on April 6, Kalyani Chavan, who was travelling to Goa, was able to use DigiYatra but was unsatisfied with the process. "They have special entrances from two departure gates, but then it is not seamless. After passing through them, I got stuck as there was no separate entry for DigiYatra passengers inside the terminal building. The same thing happened at the security check area as well and after passing through the DigiYatra gate, I had to wait before the officer was done checking the credentials of around 6-7 flyers not using the system," she said.
The system was launched in Pune on March 31. Meanwhile, airport officials termed the complaints as teething issues. "People have been deployed at both the departure gates and at different spots at the airport to assist flyers using the DigiYatra system. The new terminal will become operational by August and then the service will be fully operational without any hassles for the flyers," an airport official told TOI.
