PUNE: A five-member delegation from
Sharad Pawar's camp of the NCP will visit violence-affected Manipur on Wednesday to assess the situation.
On Monday, NCP workers led by working president and Member of Parliament Supriya Sule held demonstrations in New Delhi to protest against the violence in Manipur. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Pune last week, the city unit of the party had participated in the opposition's protest over the same issue.
Prashant Jagtap, Pune unity chief of the NCP led by Sharad Pawar, is a member of the delegation going to Manipur.
“Our party has been protesting against the Union government's inaction over the violence in Manipur. We will visit the state to take stock of the situation and express our support to and solidarity with the people,” he added.
Others in the delegation are Dheeraj Sharma, Sushma Satpute, Javed Inamdar and Sandeep Balwadkar. “Surpiya Sule wanted to join us but she has to attend the Parliament session. We will prepare a detailed report about the situation and she will help us submit it to the right people in Delhi,” he added.
