PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi has recalled an order issued by chief secretary Manoj Parida asking seven MLAs to resume duty in their posts as chairpersons of government corporations and companies.Parida, who was transferred to Delhi, relinquished charge as chief secretary with effect from November 6.
“In compliance of the order issued by the Union home ministry, I hereby relinquish my charge as chief secretary , Puducherry with effect from November 6 (afternoon).

The seniormost officer available will hold charge till my reliever joins duty ," Parida said in an official communication dated November 7 to the Union home ministry , lt governor and chief minister.
He issued an order on November 2, asking the MLAs to resume their service after the Union home ministry issued a clarification addressed to LG's secretary .
Bedi, however, said Parida had issued the order without her approval. The lt governor as the administrator of the Union territory was the competent authority to execute the Union home ministry's or der, she said.
Approval of the lt governor, who is statutory authority competent to reappoint the MLAs, has not been obtained, Bedi said. Instead, the chief secretary overlooked the lt governor's office and suo motu issued the reappointment orders without competency , thereby violating the MHA's orders, statutory rules governing the corporation and the business rules of the government. “I had no option but to order its recall till it is duly processed and (till it) re ceives statutory approvals,“ Bedi said.

The one-year tenure of MLAs R Siva (DMK), T Djeamourthy (Congress), M N R Balan (Congress), A Geetha (DMK), E Theepainthan (Congress), V Vizeavenny (Congress) and N Danavelou (Congress) as chairpersons of Puducherry industrial promotion, development and investment corporation (Pipdic), Puducherry planning authority , Puducherry transport corporation limited, Puducherry power corporation limited, Puducherry slum clearance board, Puducherry distilleries limited and Puducherry agro products, food and civil supplies corporation (Papsco) ended recently .
