PUDUCHERRY: Isha Foundation has proposed to plant 1.1 crore tree saplings across
Tamil Nadu through a series of plantation drives in a year to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5.
The foundation has proposed to plant 1.5 lakh tree saplings in Puducherry alone as a part of the campaign. The foundation will help farmers in planting profit-yielding trees like teak, melia dubia, mahogany, and rosewood that will meet their economic needs apart from improving the environment.
Isha's Cauvery Calling Movement was launched by Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev in 2019 to rejuvenate the Cauvery and to improve the economy of the farmers who depend on it.
The movement aims to plant 242 crore trees on agricultural land in the Cauvery basin areas in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
