15 workers injured in boiler blast at Shasun industry in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: Fifteen workers sustained severe burn injuries in a boiler blast at Strides Shasun Limited at Kalapet in Puducherry around 9pm on Saturday.
Eleven workers were rushed to Apollo Hospital in Chennai, two to Be Well Hospital in Puducherry, and one each to Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer).
The condition of the four workers undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital is said to be critical. The reason for the blast is yet to be ascertained.
Fire tenders from the town rushed to the industrial unit and fire and rescue services personnel fought for more than two hours to douse the fire.
