Patna: A 24-year-old woman was found dead at her in-laws' place in the Khusrupur police station area of Patna district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Simran Kumari, wife of Raju Verma.The police arrested her husband after the victim's family alleged that Raju committed dowry-related murder. According to the victim's aunt, Kusum Kumari, Simran's marriage to Raju Verma took place seven years ago. The family provided Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, along with gold jewellery during the wedding. However, the in-laws continued demanding Rs 50,000, a bed, and a large television set.Khusrupur police have initiated a thorough investigation after arresting the husband for interrogation. The police stated that the actual cause of death will be determined following the postmortem report and detailed inquiry.Fatuha's sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) I, Pankaj Kumar, said the police received reports of a woman hanging herself near Neem Tal. "When the police reached the spot, the body was lying on the bed. The police sent the body for postmortem. Further proceedings will commence upon receiving the formal application," he said.
