Unhappy workers stay away from meetings
Begusarai: Despite BJP president Amit Shah’s appeal to party workers here on September 30 to sink their differences over ticket distribution, many party functionaries are still up in arms against the leadership.
Begusarai MP Bhola Singh, who was seeking ticket for his daughter-in-law Vandana Singh from Bacchwara constituency, did not turn up at Amit Shah’s meeting.
1x1 polls
Unhappy with BJP leadership over denial of ticket to his daughter-in-law, the MP has so far not attended any election meeting of the party in the seven assembly constituencies of Begusarai district. Vandana, who had contested from Bachhwara seat on BJP ticket in the last assembly election, had finished fifth.
Arvind Singh, who is contesting from Bacchwara seat this time on LJP ticket, had finished second in the last assembly election when he fought as an independent. Singh was keen to contest on BJP ticket this time. However, in a bid to end the deadlock over ticket distribution, the NDA leadership asked him to file nomination papers as LJP candidate. The decision left MP Bhola Singh fuming.
Former district BJP president Sanjay Singh, who was keen to contest from Matihani seat, is also up in arms against the party.
His supporters said the party leadership first asked him to resign from the post of district president to get ticket and later turned down his request. Singh had also skipped Shah’s meeting in protest. The BJP has fielded Sarvesh Kumar Singh, who had recently joined the party, from Matihani seat.
Rubbing salt into Singh’s wounds, the BJP has offered ticket to Ramanuj Choudhary to contest from Khagaria seat. Choudhary is the Khagaria district chief of the party.
In Teghra, sitting BJP MLA Lallan Kuar was denied ticket and Ram Lakhan Singh was made party candidate. With only eight days left to the polls, the BJP appears a divided house in the district.
