Scrap dealer rescued within 14-hr of his kidnapping in East Champaran
Motihari: In a breakthrough, police on Tuesday night rescued a scrap dealer within 14 hours of his kidnapping.
Four criminals kidnapped Kanhaiya Prasad, a scrap dealer of Raxaul town, from his shop in Raxaul market on Tuesday morning. Two people have been arrested and they are being quizzed, said police on Wednesday.
The family members alleged that four criminals kidnapped Kanhaiya as soon as he opened his shop around 7am. They bundled him up inside a car parked outside the shop and escaped. As soon as the news of the kidnapping spread, the nearby shopkeepers informed the police.
SP, East Champaran, Swarn Prabhat, said Kanhaiya was not kidnapped by professional criminals.
SHO, Raxaul town police station, Rajiv Nandan Singh, said police are investigating the case. "Action will be taken after recording the statement of Kanhaiya," he said.
He said local people alleged that Kanhaiya had purchased land from one Rambabu Singh and he had not paid full money for the deal. They added that he was taken to a middleman for negotiation in the town and freed after that.
However, Kanhaiya's wife lodged a case of kidnapping in the town police station, accusing Rambabu Singh and his son of committing the crime.
