PATNA: The department of advertising, sales, promotion and sales management and department of business administration, Patna Women’s College (PWC), organized a two-day workshop, starting from Friday. The theme of the workshop revolves round ‘brands’.
Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that PWC is the brand of Bihar and parents wants their daughters to study here.
“Parents want their daughters to be part of this prestigious college,” he said. PWC principal Sister Doris D’Souza said that the students of the college are the ambassadors of the “Brand Patna Women’s College”.
Advertising, sales promotion and sales management department head Shazia Rahman welcomed the guests. Others who spoke on the occasion included senior faculty of the department of advertising, sales promotion and sales management Subroto Guha.
‘Women’s Health and Anaemia’: PWC on Friday also organized a seminar on ‘Women’s Health and Anaemia’ under `Sapno Ko Chali Choone’ (SKCC), a project on `Women’s Empowerment’, a joint initiative of Jagran Pehel, United Nations Population Fund and State Women’s Development Corporation.
Gynaecologist Dr Anju Singh, who was guest of honour, said anaemia is the most common blood disorder resulting in high infant mortality rate. She also gave reasons behind anaemia as well as methods to correct it. She also emphasised on a balanced diet and correct intake of iron.
Earlier, the programme began with a lecture by SKCC nodal officer Dr Shefali Roy in which she highlighted the various landmarks the project has created and narrated the story behind its making and participations of the students.
At the end of the programme, prizes were distributed for different competitions held under the project. Anjali bagged the first prize in English essay writing followed by Ispa Swaraj and Ankita Barbi, who stood second and third respectively. In the Hindi essay writing, Suman Bharti bagged the first prize followed by Suman Gokarn and Shradha Suman, who stood second and third respectively. Anuradha bagged the first prize in poster making, Swati won the second prize while Shristi Kumari and Nidhi finished third.
