Patna:
Bihar Vidhan Parishad chairperson Devesh Chandra Thakur on Wednesday emphasised that both the legislature and judiciary should use their power for the benefit of people, without disturbing each other’s sanctity and keeping their limits intact.
Thakur was delivering a speech on the topic ‘Harmonious relation between legislature and judiciary as per the spirit of Constitution’ at the 83rd All India presiding officers’ conference in Jaipur.
He said the functioning of both the organs of Constitution were complementary to one another, as legislature formulates the law for the fulfillment of public aspiration and judiciary empowers it.
Bihar Vidhan Parishad deputy chairperson Ram Chandra Purbey spoke on ‘The need to make Parliament and Vidhan Mandal more effective, liable and productive’. Talking about the basic spirit of democracy, he said, “The beauty of the parliamentary system lies in the fact that decisions are taken with exchange of words, instead of swords.”
The conference was inaugurated by the vice-president and chairman of the Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankar. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, deputy chairperson of Rajya Sabha, Harivansh,
