The court of ADJ 9, Patna, on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment a lawyer, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, in connection with the murder of another lawyer, Manoj Kumar Singh, at Ara Bar Association chamber.

PATNA: The court of ADJ 9, Patna, on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment a lawyer, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, in connection with the murder of another lawyer, Manoj Kumar Singh, at Ara Bar Association chamber. The incident had taken place on August 6, 2002.
Court sources said an altercation had taken place between Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Manoj Kumar Singh over sitting arrangement at the Bar Association chamber.

Agitated over it, Rajiv had stabbed Manoj to death. The case was later transferred to the Patna civil court.
Petition filed: Special public prosecutor Rajesh Kumar on Friday filed a petition before the Special CBI court for confiscation of the property of general Manager, Electric Supply, Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB), Patna, Ajay Kumar Prasad.
Court sources said the State Vigilance Investigation Bureau had earlier declared Prasad’s assets worth Rs 20 lakh as illegal and beyond his known sources of income. Prasad was caught red-handed by the bureau sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on November 14, 2009.
