PATNA: In a relief to state environment, forest and climate change minister Tej Prarap’s estranged wife
Aishwarya Rai, the Patna high court on Wednesday quashed a family court order which had fixed a paltry maintenance of Rs 22,000 per month for her.
A division bench comprising justice P B Bajathari and justice Arun Kumar Jha, while allowing the appeal of Aishwarya, also directed the family court concerned of Patna to hear the matter afresh within three months and take decision in accordance with law.
However, the high court laid down the condition for Aishwarya also to return all the amount she had received hitherto from Tej Prarap to which the appellant’s counsels nodded.
Aishwarya was aggrieved by the impugned order passed by the family court on December 21, 2019. That order was passed in a divorce case filed in 2018 by Tej Prarap.
By impugned order the family court had decided monthly maintenance of Rs 22,000 to be paid to Aishwarya, till pendency of the divorce case.
