PATNA: The health department has initiated departmental proceedings against the former director of the state health services, Dr Akhouri R C Sinha, in connection with the alleged irregularities in the appointment of 1,278 auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and dressers.
The state government had ordered a vigilance probe into the matter last year. It had also cancelled the appointment of more than 600 ANMs.

The health department had suspended section officer Vishnu Dev Ram for his alleged involvement in the irregular appointment of dressers.
A senior health department official said on Friday that Sinha, who retired from the government service on June 30 last year, had asked for documents relating to the appointment of ANMs and dressers.
Replying to the charges framed against him by the health department, Sinha has claimed that he made the appointments following the order of the health minister, the official added.
