Girl set ablaze, condition serious

PATNA: An Intermediate girl student, Priyanka (16), sustained serious burn injuries when some persons poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze inside her house at Chorma Tola, Gajipur Haat, under Bhagvanpur police station in Siwan district, late on Monday night, according to a report reaching here from the spot.
The police said that the incident took place when Priyanka was sleeping in her room.Three persons - Ajit Pandey, Durgesh Pandey and Mukesh Pandey -- entered her room and allegedly poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze. They then escaped from there.
The girl was immediately taken to the local PHC from where she was referred to Basantpur from where the attending doctors referred her to Patna.
Maharajganj SDPO Ashok Kumar Sinha said that the entire incident seems to be mysterious one. He said that the girl's cousin brother has lodged an FIR against the three persons. The incident seems to be fallout of some land dispute between two families, he said and added that everything would be clear after investigation.
