Patna: Lawyer-cum-social worker Mamta Pandey on Thursday said honesty and mutual trust between domestic workers and their employers were important for promoting the unorganised sector in the country.
Addressing a function organised by a social organisation to mark the International Domestic Workers’ Day, Pandey said it was a social responsibility of all to respect the works done by others, including those dependent on low salaries.
According to
Anupriya, a functionary of the social organisation, another guest and retired professor Nawal Kishore Choudhary, in his speech, demanded constitution of a welfare board for the domestic workers.
Some of the domestic workers also shared their experiences of working in the homes of urban areas, saying social security would help in building up an amicable environment in the society. “These domestic workers would soon present a memorandum of their demands to the state labour department,” Anupriya said.
