Patna: A medical aspirant, whose body was found hanging in her room at a private hostel on Exhibition Road in the state capital more than a week ago, died by suicide, police said. A three-page suicide note was recovered from near the body. However, the family has alleged that she was either killed or driven to die by suicide by two youths. One person has been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the case while raids are underway to arrest the two suspects named by the family, police said on Wednesday.
The girl, a minor from Aurangabad district, was found hanging in her hostel room in the Exhibition Road area on Jan 6. Police registered a case of unnatural death and initially termed it a suicide. Subsequently, family members submitted a written complaint against three persons, alleging that the girl was either murdered or compelled to take the extreme step.

City SP (central) Diksha said, “The police recovered a suicide note and her mobile phone from the girl’s hostel room. She was depressed over her studies and some personal issues. The FSL team also collected samples from the scene. One person was arrested and sent to jail. The preliminary investigation revealed that two unidentified suspects broke the door of her room and brought the body down.”
Diksha said the role of both suspects is being investigated. She added that police are also probing the involvement of the persons mentioned in the suicide note.
