PATNA: Noted littérateur Govind Mishra’s recital of ‘Bhaans’ wowed the audience at the inaugural session of three-day Akhil Bharatiya Hindi Katha Samaroh, which started at the Indira Gandhi planetarium here on Saturday.
The inaugural Phanishwar Nath ‘Renu’ session was dominated by Mishra, whose short fiction beautifully intertwined dreams and reality.
The story was set in Rampur and Kanpur and highlighted various sides of the protagonists. The recital was reviewed by writer Ravi Bhushan who said, “Phanishwar Nath ‘Renu’ was one of the first authors who broke the narrative writing structure of Premchand bringing a revolution of sorts.” He also said Hindi short stories raise relevant questions plaguing the Indian society.
The programme was inaugurated by state art, culture and youth affairs minister Ram Lashan Ram Raman, who said such programmes promote literature. State art, culture and youth affairs secretary Anand Kishor was also present on the occasion.
A Hindi play ‘Doob dhan’, written by Usha Kiran Khan and presented by Kanupriya Pandit, was also staged on the first day of the event. Hindi literature stalwarts Alok Dhanwa and Ram Bachan Rai were also present at the inaugural session.
On Sunday and Monday, several noted writers Ravindra Kalia, Mamta Kalia, Mithileshwar and Ramdhari Singh Diwakar, will read out their stories at the event.
