Woman rushes to rescue her son from neighbour’s attack, falls on road & dies
Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing a 70-year-old woman during a confrontation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham.According to police, the deceased's son, Bijendra Kumar, got into an argument with the accused, Majid, who lives in the same locality."The woman, Ramvati Devi, intervened to protect her son. During the altercation, Majid allegedly pushed Ramvati, causing her to fall and sustain injuries, which led to her death," said an official.Abhishek Srivastava, ACP of Kavi Nagar, said that Bijendra lived with his brother and mother in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna in Madhuban Bapudham."Around 12.30 am on Sunday, Majid, an e-rickshaw driver, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was sitting outside the Kumar residence. Bijendra had questioned why he was sitting there, which sparked the argument. Hearing the commotion, Ramvati attempted to intervene and calm the situation," explained ACP Srivastava.ACP Srivastava further added that during the altercation, Majid allegedly pushed Ramvati. "She fell and hit her head near her eyes, resulting in severe injuries. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead," Srivastava said.
Ramvati's body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been filed at Madhuban Bapudham police station under BNS sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 352 (assault or use of criminal force), and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.Police added that the accused was produced in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
