VK Singh seeks CBI inquiry into attack on Teotia
GHAZIABAD: Union minister and Ghaziabad MP Gen VK Singh (retd) on Monday demanded a CBI inquiry into the attack on local BJP strongman Brijpal Teotia even as the attackers continued to evade arrest.
“I have demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter in order to ensure an impartial probe,” said Singh.
Meanwhile, Teotia’s health showed signs of recovery on Monday, five days after he came under heavy gunfire in an attack purportedly carried out by AK-47-borne assailants.

Fortis hospital in Sector 62, Noida, where Teotia is admitted along with two of his gunmen, released another health bulletin on Monday.
“There is a steady improvement in the medical condition of the patient, Brijpal Teotia and he is responding well to the medical treatment. Our doctors are closely monitoring the patient and are doing their best,” said the hospital statement.
UP police officials said that a massive combing operation is underway in several districts of western UP to nab the culprits and seize the arms used for carrying out the attack.

“We have taken nearly 25 persons into custody so far. They are being interrogated. Their background checks are also being conducted to ascertain their possible involvement. So far, we have not formally arrested anyone. However, the lines along which we are conducting the investigation has been on the right track so far,” Ghaziabad SSP KS Emmanuel told TOI.
Teotia’s family members said the condition of his two gunmen – Ashok and Rampal – who are also admitted to the Fortis hospital, is still serious
Senior officers of Ghaziabad police including SSP KS Emmanuel and SP (City) Salmantaj Patil, met Teotia’s family members in Fortis Hospital on Monday.
“The officers assured us that they are proceeding in the right direction in their investigations and that a thorough inquiry is being conducted to nab the persons who carried out the attack. We have still not cast our suspicion on anyone for carrying out the attack because our family does not have any past cases of enmity or disputes. Also, those accompanying Brijpal Teotia in the two SUVs during the attack did not see the faces of the assailants clearly. Hence, we have not named any accused so far,” Teotia’s younger brother Vikas told TOI.
