Starting flights from Noida airport may take up to 60 days: Naidu

NOIDA: Starting passenger flight from Noida International Airport (NIA) could take up to two months.Union civil aviation minister K Ram Mohan Naidu said after the inauguration on Saturday, “NIA should get operational within 45 to 60 days from Saturday (inauguration day). That has been our experience at the new airports that have opened in recent times.It also took Navi Mumbai airport 2 months to start passenger flights. NIA still needs Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) certification from Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.ASP is the airport’s core security framework, laying down how checks will work from entry gates to boarding, and assigning responsibilities to all stakeholders, including the airport operator, airlines, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and ground handlers. It also sets out contingency plans to help authorities respond quickly to any security situation.
