NAVI MUMBAI: A youth has been arrested by the APMC police for allegedly killing his mother by strangulating her after a verbal spat at their house in Kopri village on Sunday past midnight.
The APMC police said the accused has been identified as Roopchand Shaikh (21) and the deceased as Salma Shaikh (46). On Sunday, an argument ensued between the duo as Salma was taunting Roopchand for not being able to get a job and not contributing monetarily to support the family.
Subsequently, Roopchand turned violent and strangulated her." Vivek Pansare, DCP (zone 1) said, "It is learnt that the Roopchand suspected that his mother was having an extramarital affair, which could be the murder motive." Ajay Shinde, senior inspector of APMC police station said, "Roopchand resided with his mother, father and a seven-year-old brother. The FIR has been registered after a complaint was lodged by his married sister."
