Taloja cop run over by Andheri driver

NAVI MUMBAI: A Taloja police station havaldar Madhukar Pagi, 49, was killed under the Panvel flyover on Thursday late evening. He was run over by a an SUV while trying to cross the Sion-Panvel highway.
Pagi was returning after his duty to drop letters at the DCP office in Panvel, which is close to his home. The driver Sohaib Guhagharkar, an Andheri resident, has been arrested by the Panvel city police.
A Panvel city police station official said, “The deceased lived in the Panvel police line quarters.The accident took place when he was trying to cross the highway towards Sion while returning home from duty on his bike near Amardham. The speeding Sumo vehicle ran over his bike. The vehicle was travelling from Panvel ST depot towards Kalamboli.”
The victim sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the Life Line Hospital in Panvel. He was declared dead. The accused, an Andheri resident, was arrested and is in police custody.” The driver was booked under relevant IPC sections, besides MV Act 184.
