Medals galore for local players in state taekwondo meet

NAVI MUMBAI: It was raining medals for local players at state level sub-junior and cadet taekwondo championship held at Ratnagiri recently. City athletes won 19 medals in various groups to dominate the show, organised by Ratnagiri Taekwondo Association. The event had over 500 champion players, representing their respective districts.
Local players bagged four gold, nine silver and six bronze medals in their respective age and weight categories.
The gold medalists included Ganesh Rathod, Shivani Vanve, Bhumika Khadka, and Sayali Kuchekar.
As per the selection criteria, only the gold winners will represent the state at the ensuing 32nd national sub-junior and first cadet national taekwondo championship, slated to be held at Kurukshetra, Haryana from June 4 to 8.
