NAVI MUMBAI: While Cidco is continuing with its round-the-clock garbage collection drives, garbage heaps are still visible in some parts of Cidco administered nodes. Residents of Kharghar and Taloja are not happy with with the pace of work in their nodes, unlike in New Panvel, Kamothe and Kalamboli.
“Collection started from sector 21 on Friday afternoon and it may take at least two days to clear the backlog,” said Kharghar resident Ritu Sharma.
Cidco had disposed 1,300 tons of garbage in two days while clearing most areas of Kalamboli, New Panvel and Kamothe.
“We are hoping to clear 650 tons by Friday night. Except for sectors 7 and 10 in Kharghar we have cleared out almost all areas. We are working on war footing, ” said Cidco chief health officer B S Baviskar.
There are still many areas which have not been attended by the clean-up team, alleged residents. Kamothe resident Sudatta Das said, “Only 75% of garbage has been cleared in the residential area.”
