Fire tenders take 3 hours to douse blaze at Taloja chemical factory

NAVI MUMBAI: A major fire broke out at a chemical factory in Taloja MIDC area on Monday. Fortunately, there was no casualties as all workers were immediately evacuated even before the fire brigade teams arrived.
The blaze occurred at Memba Chem Industries Private Limited, a manufacturer of petroleum products, industrial chemicals and laboratory reagents.

Taloja MIDC fire station rushed two fire tenders and five fire fighters to the spot. As the fire went on raging, two more tenders were summoned from Cidco’s fire stations in Kharghar and Kalamboli and one each from Panvel city municipal corporation and Ambernath fire stations.
Cidco deputy chief fire officer Vijay Rane said, “The fire had engulfed the entire plant and could be extinguished after three hours.”
The cause of the fire is yet to be found. The workers claimed a spark caused the fire.
