Upanagar police on Wednesday confiscated a country-made pistol, two swords and a 33-inch sharp weapon from one Amar Phulavde’s (20) house in Artillery Centre Road, Khole Mala area of Nashik Road. Phulavde and Shaikh Ansar Shaikh (34) from Nashik Road were arrested during the raid. The police have launched a manhunt to find the duo’s associates, Motiram Shinde of Artillery Centre Road, Rahul Sonawane of Bankar Mala, Nashik Road and Rahul Hone of Ahmednagar.
The police received a tip on February 14 during routine patrolling in the area. The city police confiscated weapons in two incidents on Tuesday.
A police party patrolling in the Ambad area came across an autorickshaw near Trimurti Chowk area of Cidco around 2.30pm.
Since the occupants were acting suspicious, the police chased and intercepted the auto near the crematorium. The police nabbed Bhima Pagare, Jeetendra Chaudhary and Shetty. Pagare and Choudhary are reportedly externed criminals. The cops found two swords, one revolver, three live cartridges, a sharp weapon and hockey sticks.
Three managed to escape.
In another incident, a sword was recovered from a car near Hotel Raj Vihar in Cidco. The police have arrested Cidco resident Dattatray Kombde in the case.
